       Description: God’s pledge to treasure and protect the nation of Israel – to be their God and have them as His chosen nation

        The Nation of Israel

        Included saved (Heb.11:23-40 ) and unsaved Jews (Jer.2:8; 4:22)

        Also applied to Gentiles (non-Jews) living among the Israelites (Lev.18:26; Num.15:14-16, 30; Deut. 5:14 ) though they were not the primary recipients of the Covenant (Ex.19:6, Deut.14:21)

        Note: Gentiles could also participate in voluntary aspects of the Mosaic Covenant if they were willing to meet certain requirements – e.g., circumcision. (Ex.12:48 cf. Num.9:14; 15:14)

       Sign:

        The Sabbath

      Exodus 31:12-17 - Then the LORD said to Moses. . . The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever . . .
