Romans 1:7 - “saints” (Greek: ‘agioV - hagios)

•        The term “saint” is derived from a word that means “set apart for special or holy use”

•        The Bible teaches that God has set apart His people for the purpose of saving them, making them holy, and using them in His kingdom. Therefore in the Bible all Christians are referred to as saints :

–      To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:7)

–      Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? (1 Corinthians 6:2)

–      For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints (1 Corinthians 14:33)

–      Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:1)

–      Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons (Philippians 1:1)
