Romans 5:1 - “peace” (Greek: eirhnh – eirene)

• As unbelievers, we were God’s enemies and were therefore at war with God.

– Colossians 1:21 - Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

– Romans 5:10a - . . . we were God's enemies . . .

• As believers, the hostility that existed between us and God has been removed and we are now at peace with God!

– Romans 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

• Later in this passage (verse 10) Paul tells will tell us how this transition (from war to peace) was accomplished.
