Romans 5:10 - “reconciled” (Greek: katallassw – katallasso)

 

•        The word “reconcile” means “to bring together, to change from an enemy to a friend”.

 

•        As unbelievers, we were God’s enemies because of our sin.

–       Colossians 1:21 - Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.

 

•        By satisfying God’s wrath through His death on the cross, Christ has reconciled us to God, that is, He brought us together with God, so that we are no longer enemies, but members of God’s family.

–       Ephesians 2:13-19 In Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.  For He himself is our peace, who has made the two [Jews and Gentiles] one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility . . . and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which He put to death their hostility . . . Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household

–       Romans 5:10a - For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son . . .
