Romans 9: 1-5 – Review with Answers

 

•        Prior to the coming of Christ, God’s people had been almost exclusively Jews. What change had taken place in the composition of God’s people by the time of the writing of the Roman letter to which Paul addresses himself in Romans 9-11?

–        The Jews had largely rejected the Gospel while the Gentiles were coming into the church in large numbers

 

•        In the first 5 verses of Romans 9, Paul expresses great anguish and sorrow over the lost condition of his fellow Jews. What does Paul say in verse 3 that he wishes could happen if it meant salvation for the Jews?

–        That he himself would be condemned to hell!

 

•        Sometimes those who are ignorant of the scriptures will say, “The Bible never says Christ was God, it says He was the Son of God”. What does Paul say in Romans 9:5 that contradicts this idea?

–        That Christ is God over all, forever praised, Amen!
