Some Suggestions for
Studying Romans
•
Romans was
written in Greek. If you do not know Greek then you must use a translation of
the letter (in a language you do know) if you are to read and study it.
•
To
learn Romans, the letter itself should be read repeatedly in several good
modern translations:
–
NIV
(1984) [Note: this is the translation that I will use in class]
–
NASB
(1995)
–
NKJ
(1982)
•
An
excellent study Bible is the New International Study Bible
•
Romans
should be studied Section by Section not Chapter by Chapter nor
Verse by Verse. When Paul wrote the letter, he did not divide it into parts. In
fact:
–
It
was not divided into chapters until the 13th century
–
It
was not divided into verses until the 16th century
