Romans 2:12-16 - Outline and Summary

God will judge men according to the light (i.e., knowledge) they have possessed - according to the revelation of God’s Law they have lived under (Romans 2:12-16)

•        The Gentiles will be judged according to the Law written on man’s heart (Romans 2:12a, 14-16)

–       The Gentiles will be judged by the revelation of God’s will which they have lived under. If they have sinned (i.e., broken the Law written on their hearts) they will perish (be consigned to eternal punishment)

•        The Jews will be judged according to the Law of Moses - the Law revealed by God in the Old Testament and established as a covenant with the nation of Israel at Mount Sinai. (Romans 2:12b-13)

–       The Jews will be judged by the Mosaic Law. If they have sinned (i.e., broken the Law of God given through Moses), They will be punished according to its demands. IF they have kept it (i.e., have not sinned, but have done all that God required of them) they will be justified ((i.e., declared righteous - acquitted)!
