God will judge men according to what they have done -
according to their works. (Romans 2:1-11)
•
The Jews, in passing judgement on the Gentiles, condemned themselves for they were guilty of the very same sins. (Romans 2:1-6)
•
Paul warns that God will judge all men according to their works, regardless of who they
are:
–
To those who by
persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, God will give Eternal Life (as their just reward). (Romans 2:7)
–
But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger from God (as their just
reward). (Romans 2:8)
•
God will show no partiality or favoritism in judging sin! There will be trouble and distress for
every human being who does evil; just as there will be salvation for any man
who does right (i.e., keeps God’s Law) - first for the Jew, then also for the
Gentile. (Romans 2:9-11)
