Romans 2:21 - The Jews Were Guilty of Stealing

 

You who preach against stealing, do you steal? (Romans 2:21)

 

        Numerous examples can be found in both the Old and New Testament of Jews who were guilty of stealing (or theft or robbery):

      Psalm 50:18 - The Psalmist speaks of wicked Jews who “When you see a thief, you join with him”

      Isaiah 1:23 - Isaiah speaks of Jewish rulers who “are companions of thieves; they all love bribes and chase after gifts”

        Isaiah 10:2 - Isaiah speaks of those who “deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.”

      Jeremiah 7:9-11 Jeremiah speaks of Jews who would steal and then come to the temple and say "We are safe”, thus turning the house of God into a “den of robbers

      Luke 20:46-47 - Jesus condemned the teachers of the law because they “devour widows' houses” - that is, they robbed widows through extortion.

      Matthew 21:12-13 - Jesus drove the Jewish money changers out of the temple because they were “making it a den of robbers”.
